Make this holiday season extra special by keeping Santa’s spirit alive! If you have young children who have yet to become skeptical of St. Nick, have fun and take ourĀ 8 easy clues! These small things help your children really believe that Santa showed up!
Create Your Own Special Wrapping Paper
Santa is a busy man, and his workshop is a hectic place to work! Make certain presents look extra special by wrapping them in DIY paper. Packages from Santa’s workshop have to travel a long way, and sometimes they get bumped, scratched or a little dirty on the outside.
Easily create your own wrapping paper that the kids never see before Christmas morning! All you need is:
- Brown craft paper
- A holiday stamp
- An ink pad
- Burlap or DIY bow
- Sand, fake snow or glitter
You can even add a special touch and let your child know which of Santa’s elves wrapped each gift! Create your own stamp or pen a cute note that reads “Wrapped by Eldrin the Elf, Delivered by Santa”
Blame Santa!
Your kids are most likely asking for specific gifts. Get ready to blame Santa for the gift being delivered! Tell your kids that some of the gifts they’ve asked for are out of budget this year, or that the stores have run out. When the gift is under the tree on Christmas morning, you can say Santa must have gotten their request!
Things to blame on Santa:
- Gifts showing up that weren’t expected
- Cookie crumbs and half glasses of milk
- Unexplained buttons or bells showing up around the house
- Dirt, snow or soot being left behind
Take Bites of Santa’s Cookies & the Reindeer’s Carrots
As an adult, you know Santa is only real in our imaginations, and in the spirit of Christmas! But as you prepare your home to keep the magic alive for your children, there are extra things you can do to make it look like Santa really came!
These things are also small rewards for you and the hard work you do shopping, wrapping and presenting:
- Your kids leave out cookies and milk on Christmas eve, but you get to enjoy them!
- Nibble the reindeers’ carrots! Some families leave snacks for Santa’s reindeer too! Be sure you make them look nibbled
- Stamp gifts from Santa with his signature, and give your writing hand a rest
Sprinkle Soot, Dirt, Sand or Glitter Around the House
- Make it look like Santa tracked in snow! Leave salt or sugar near the fireplace and Christmas tree
- If you’re ok with a mess, sprinkle fireplace soot in Santa’s busiest areas
- Sprinkle glitter around to make it look like Christmas magic was left behind
- If you live in a warm climate, spray snow-in-a-can around your windows and tell the kids that Santa brought in a little north pole wind!
Leave Santa’s Footprint
Leave a little evidence of Santa’s foot traction! Here’s how to make it look real:
- Use a large rain boot or snow boot to print fake snow around the Christmas tree
- Leave reindeer tracks too! Draw your own in snow or soil, and use a decal or stencil for indoors!
Leave Something that Santa Must Have Lost
Leave small clues from Santa and his reindeer! Santa gets busy and hectic when delivering presents around the globe! Show your kids that he sometimes loses things too. Ideas for things to plant around the house include:
- Coat button (it could have fallen from Santa’s coat)
- Small bell (it could have come from his sleigh or bag)
- Fur or Sherpa lining (Santa could have snagged his collar coming down the chimney!)
- Sock or scarf (Santa sometimes takes his shoes or scarf off to take a cookie break)
Sign Packages from Santa
Use a special Santa gift tag stamp or signature stamp to sign presents that came from the north pole! Here are a few cute designs that are sure to make your specially wrapped gifts look like they’re really from Santa:
Leave a Thank You Note from Santa
Santa minds his manners, and he’s always thankful for the treats your kids leave out for him. Show Santa’s gratitude by writing a thank you note!
Here are easy ways to make your note look like St. Nick really wrote it:
- Smear the ink a little bit (it shows that Santa’s in a hurry!)
- Sprinkle cookie crumbs on the note
- Write the note on rustic DIY paper that looks like Santa’s had it for centuries!
- Sign your note with Santa’s signature stamp
